Last week I was chatting to local people about Dublin Bus’s plans to cut back services this year. Older people, in particular, were worried about potential route cuts. Exhibiting great stoicism, one old lady said ‘I’m going to have to leave the house much earlier to get my shopping done’ . She shouldn’t have to.
I’ve written a letter to Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey, who says his aim is for more passengers to use Dublin Bus this year.
In it, I’ve asked the Minister how on earth this squares with Dublin Bus’s stated intention of reducing the number of buses and the frequency of service it provides.
